HH September Picks

Posted by Health Hut on

Sunflowers are in full bloom, the lake water is warm and shadows are getting longer. Settling into September has us feeling good - it's another seasonal fresh start for building comforting routines and taking good care of ourselves and others.

This month, we're savouring our summer glow, being super kind to our skin (and hair, bye frizz!) and waking up to soul shifting jazz.

USING

Jenny: Tata Harper Restorative Eye Cream, I've never used an eye cream before (and yes, I've got cute crow's feet) so I'm excited to see the results. I also started using my Province Apothecary Facial Dry Brush again - feels so good!

Tara: The Hair Routine Moisture Treatment, Vintner's Daughter Active Botanical Serum and Ritual Alchemy Daily Ritual Oil! Giving my skin and hair allll the healing moisture it needs from spending so much time in the sun.

Taylor: Tata Harper Superkind Collection! It's super nice and gentle, which is perfect for the changing seasons when my skin typically freaks out a little!

Julie: Kicking the bath/shower game up a notch, with our Health Hut Eucalyptus, Vetiver, Petitgrain Bubble Bath, a Health Hut Large Sea Sponge and the Corpus Third Rose Body Wash

Kyra: I’ve been loving the Province Apothecary Facial Cupping Set, my skin has been looking brighter and less puffy…plus they’re really fun to use! Also, Corpus Deodorant in Third Rose, the scent is perfect, and it’s been keeping up with me biking all over the city!

DOING

Taylor: Sunset walks with my dogs and reading as much as I can.

Tara: Taking a few days away in PEC to recharge from a busy summer!

Jenny: Manual facial massage. I wrote all about Lymphatic Drainage for the HH Habit in August and I decided to start giving myself facial massages every morning (I follow these vids). Not joking, I got a comment on the first day.

Julie: Lazy evening walks for some Ruru Baked and listening to some binaural beats before bed.

Kyra: Lots of reading, yoga, doodling and walks in the sun.

EATING

Tara: I have a reso at Sunny's Chinese later this month and I can't wait.

Jenny: I'll be making vegan mac and cheese with roasted butternut squash every week from now until May.

Kyra: Donna’s on Lansdowne - the coolest/cutest spot and the yummiest eats!

Julie: Bar Isabel. The Shrimp, the Patatas Bravas, enough said (I blame Tara for being the best dinner curator).

Taylor: Wilma Snack Bar on Ossington! You have to get their tuna crudo!

LISTENING

Jenny: Yoga, by Emmanuel Carrere. Yes, it's a book! I'm listening to it on Audible on my bike rides to and from work.

Julie: Femme Fantôme by Lockhart. Keeping the summer vibes alive.

Taylor: Renaissance by Beyonce has been on repeat all day everyday since it was released

Kyra: Afrikan Culture by Shabaka—such a beautiful jazz album that I’ve been enjoying pretty much every morning lately

Tara: HAIM Radio on Spotify - it's such a comfort go-to for me.

READING

Julie: My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh

Taylor: Every Summer After by Carley Fortune

Kyra: Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata

Tara: Intimacies by Katie Kitamura from Flying Books

Jenny: The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron
