HH June Picks

Posted by Jenny Tellier on

This is the month when we can finally say that summer is here. We're leaning into this feel-good month with bikes, baths and botanical love.

USING

Tara: Ok so I think it goes without saying I have been spending A LOT of time in the tub with our new Bubble Baths. (I'm an all-seasons bather, and love winding down the day with a soak regardless of the temperature outside.) I am alternating between scents, but right now realllly feeling the refreshing and floral notes of Juniper, Ylang Ylang and Mandarin.

Jenn: Immortelle Best Skin Ever.

Julie: It's the season for lighter skincare and I am loving the Flora cream serum from Monastery because it's not quite a cream, not quite an oil and it smells divine! And I always carry a bottle of Daily Ritual Oil with me for any moments where I need a lil hydration and aromatherapy hit. And the new Bubble Baths!

Jenny: I have a million lip balms and added another to my collection - the F. Miller Lip Balm. I love that F. Miller is donating all proceeds from the sale of this balm to The Trevor Project this month. Also, I love the way the scent from the Juniper, Ylang Ylang and Mandarin Bubble Bath fills my apartment every time I take a bath.

Taylor: The hype is REAL!! I've never had skincare transform my skin the way that Vintner's Daughter Active Treatment Essence + Active Botanical Serum combo has. I can't say enough good stuff about it! I've also felt myself reaching for it more as I've been into a simpler routine for summer.

Nat: Vintner's Daughter + Flora by Monastery

LISTENING

Julie: Vendredi Sur Mer

Taylor: Harry's House by Harry Styles

Jenn: Dance Fever by Florence + The Machine

Nat: Loyle Carner

Tara: Aldous Harding Radio on Spotify

Jenny: The Writer's Voice Podcast by The New Yorker

EATING

Taylor: Azhar on Ossington. They have super fresh potato pita (cooked fresh to order) that is so good when dipped in their hummus. I would also recommend the crudo with charred clementine. So good!

Jenny: I'm a walk away from Evergreen Brickworks and the first thing I do when I get there on Saturday morning is head to the Natural Japaneats table run by Chi. I get a couple of mochi to start my day, last week I had the cherry, orange and almond with white bean paste. Yum!

Tara: Shaved fennel, celery and mint salad with pecorino from Eating out Loud. Pita and Melitzanosalata (eggplant + honey) Dip from Agora.

Nat: Pizza from Pizzeria Badiali.

Jenn: Manita (on Ossington) or Her Father's Cider (on Harbord).

Julie: Fresh Salmon from the local Portuguese fish market + Aperol spritz at 3Speed.

READING

Jenn: When We Lost Our Heads by Heather O'Neill

Nat: The Unwritten Book: An Investigation by Samantha Hunt

Jenny: The Overstory by Richard Powers - I'm taking this book in slowly. It's centred around trees - their growth and how their lifespans eclipse our own - so reading it slowly feels right. I also got my dad in a little book club with me so we can read it together.

Tara: Fight Night by Miriam Toews

Julie: Book Lovers from Emily Henry - Emily Henry strikes again! For those who love a good summer read with a slice of romance, travel & quick banter, this is THE book! I loved it.

Taylor: Scarborough by Catherine Hernandez - I've just begun diving into Scarborough by Catherine Hernandez, and I'm already impressed. It's emotional, raw and well written.

DOING

PRIDE TORONTO!

Nat: Getting as much rest as possible, enjoying the weather on a city bench with an iced coffee!

Julie and Jenny: Taking pics of every flower we see.

Taylor: Going for walks and bike rides in Toronto's ravines.

Tara: Going for early morning walks with Artie, and trying to keep the herbs and veggies I planted alive!

Jenn: Soaking up all this SUN in as many parks as I can.

WE'D LOVE TO KNOW WHAT YOU'RE LOVING THIS MONTH!
