ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER - COLLEGE
As Assistant Store Manager, you’ll play a key role in the daily rhythm of Health Hut’s College Street shop. This role blends front-of-house sales, e-commerce fulfillment, team support, and behind-the-scenes operations. We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, brings a calm and caring presence to our customers, and can juggle details while keeping the bigger picture in mind.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Customer Experience
- Warmly welcome every customer and create a friendly, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere.
- Represent Health Hut’s values in every interaction, whether in person, online, or over the phone.
- Develop strong product knowledge across all brands and confidently share recommendations.
- Build authentic connections through one-on-one conversations and thoughtful service.
- Manage customer needs across all channels (in-store, phone, email, Reamaze chat), resolving questions or concerns with care.
- Process purchases and returns using Shopify POS and related apps.
- Manage facial and mini-facial event bookings, including payment processing.
- Collaborate with the retail team to meet sales goals and share proactive ideas to enhance the customer experience.
- Report buying trends and customer insights to managers.
- Ensure smooth daily hand-offs by sharing updates with the team at the end of each shift.
Inventory + Merchandising
- Receive, price, and organize incoming inventory.
- Maintain visual merchandising standards and ensure the store environment is welcoming and well-kept.
- Monitor inventory levels, adjust as needed, and accurately log changes.
- Support transfers between locations and flag out-of-stock or tester needs.
- Communicate damaged or missing product issues promptly.
Ecommerce Fulfillment
- Oversee daily online orders, including pick-up and same-day delivery requests.
- Pack and ship orders with care and accuracy using shipping programs.
- Respond to order updates or customer inquiries via Reamaze, Slack, email, and phone.
- Keep the back-end fulfillment area clean, safe, and organized.
Team + Staff Support
- Create and manage the weekly schedule, accommodating vacations and absences.
- Assign daily and weekly tasks to the retail team via Asana.
- Provide training, feedback, and support to team members.
- Monitor Slack channels and respond to in-store updates.
- Share team wins and challenges with managers.
Store Operations
- Open and close the shop following daily procedures.
- Troubleshoot in-store systems (Shopify, Moneris, Acuity, Sonos, alarm, internet).
- Maintain an organized stockroom, hallway, and basement.
- Order and manage shop supplies, including for in-store events.
Events + Promotions
- Assist with preparation and set-up for in-store events (Wine Club, facials, masterclasses).
- Order event supplies and ensure the shop is presentation-ready.
- Support seasonal promotions and sales campaigns.
Weekly Management
- Participate in weekly meetings to discuss:
Sales goals and performance
Upcoming events, pop-ups, and promotions
Customer service and team scheduling
Inventory and supply needs
General ideas and weekly priorities

REPORTS TO:
Store Manager
EMPLOYMENT TYPE:
Full-time, 5 days per week (including at least one weekend day)
COMPENSATION:
$50,000–54,000 annually, based on experience, with access to a bonus structure and staff discount.
LOCATION + ACCESSIBILITY:
786 College Street, Toronto, Ontario
This job requires moving up and down stairs and requires light lifting.
