Another season has officially settled in. The air is crisp, the leaves are turning and there is a distinct smell of pumpkin spice going around. We love the whole "Hygge" feeling that comes this time of year, so we are super excited to share our October picks, and hopefully inspire you to dive into all things cozy!
1. The First Mess - Soups and Stews
Does anything kick off the Fall season better than a warm, savory bowl of stew? We are SO feeling this Ginger Sweet Potato Coconut Milk Stew with Lentils and Kale by The First Mess. That's a mouthful to say, but a really, really delicious one!
2. Evergreen Brickworks Farmer's Market
The Brickworks Farmer's Market is a classic Saturday morning destination. You'll find an incredible selection of local and seasonal produce, bread, and treats from local farmers and makers! Grab a coffee and make the rounds!
3. Red Sky
This local brand knows how to do classic with a twist! There might be more than one HH employee with the Sunrise Jacket this season. Not sorry! These pieces are unique, comfy and so fun!
4. Monastery
We dare you to find anyone here at HH who hasn't completely fallen in love with Monastery. This new addition is a brand we are crushing on, hard! Our current obsessions include: Attar, Flora Serum, Rose Cleansing Oil and the Lapiz Body Oil. Treat yourself, your skin will thank you!
5. Candles
Do we even need to say more? The sun is dropping the mic and making an exit a lot faster these days, so get your mood lighting on! We love to mix and match, and some of our seasonal faves are: Jura by Lohn, Wildwoods by Woodlot and the Beeswax Pillars by East City Candles.
6. The Modern Larder
Looking to amp up your home-cooked-meals game? Check out The Modern Larder by Michelle Mckenzie. This beast of a book has 58 ingredient profiles and over 260 recipes and variations to help you shine in the kitchen. This is a cold weather must for us.
7. Soma Hot Chocolate
Cooler temperatures + hot chocolate = no brainer. If you haven't yet visited Soma down on King, do yourself a favor and do a little pop in. Their drinking chocolate is decadent and you might find yourself tempted to add the dark chocolate swirl marshmallows, it's impossible not to!
8. Date Night at Gia
The way to the heart is through the stomach, and Gia knows all the shortcuts. If you're in the mood for a plant-forward and delectable meal, head over to this Dundas West spot and indulge. We recommend the Mushroom Tortelli and the Roasted Squash, we're salivating just thinking about it.
