HH August Picks

August has us dreaming of floral-filled skincare routines, lake-soaked skin and afternoons that feel as long as late-summer shadows. 

This month, the HH team is biting into homegrown tomatoes and ripe peaches, trying co-cleansing for curly hair and spending extended time by the water's edge.

Nat: Fresh pasta from Eataly with farm cherry tomato's.

Jenna: So many Ontario peaches!

Jeronnie: Sourdough, large orange tomatoes, cilantro and burrata cheese.

Mary: Lev Bakery’s rugelach and Vital Life Vegan platters Mondays at the Sorauren Farmer’s Market.

Tara: Pickerel with tomato salad and fresh corn. Also deli sandwiches with Cape Cod chips from Silver Stream Farms in Port Sandfield.


Tara: The Guest by Emma Cline.

Nat: The Road to the City by Natalia Ginzburg.

Jenna: Waiting on my book club’s next selection.

Jenny: The Last Supper by Rachel Cusk.

Jeronnie: Bible verses.

Melissa: Femme Type: A Book Celebrating Women in the Type Industry.

Mary: Looking forward to getting my eyes on Oberih, a collection of stories about things that accompany us everywhere and provide solace and protection in all circumstances. It's published as a fundraising project for people affected by the war in Ukraine.

Rachel: Joy on Demand by Chade-Meng Tan.


Jenna: Noah Kahan’s Drunk Dial (with Post Malone) is on heavy rotation.

Jeronnie: The Brook & The Bluff

Tara: Lake water on the rocks.

Nat: Enjoying the last month of summer by spending all my time outside!

Rachel: A beach day on Toronto Island and checking out the CNE.

Tara: Being in the lake much as I can, going to bed early and waking up early, reading and cooking with tomatoes.

Jenna: Attending summer socials, swimming as much as I can and getting back into spin classes.

Melissa: Going on walks by the boardwalk and swimming!

Jeronnie: Spending time with my family and their new puppy!
