The sun is hot and the weekends are lazy. To celebrate all things summer, we've curated some "Muskoka adventures" to help you take in the magic of this super special place. Whether you're making a quick day trip or are already spending time at the cottage, here are some of our favourite spots and things to do north of the city.
FOOD
Crossroads: A great menu with a focus on fresh, local and seasonal fare. Cute patio too! A must try: the artisan greens salad and truffle fries.
Water's Edge: This is the spot to see and be seen! Beautiful patio overlooking Lake Joseph.
The Honest Food Company: New food truck in town featuring crispy chicken sandwiches, fresh cut fries and soft serve ice cream.
Silver Stream Farms: For the BEST deli sandwich, and a slice of nostalgia (it hasn't changed since Tara started visiting as a kid!). Pair with a bag of Cape Cod chips and you're in heaven - the perfect picnic combo! They have a great ice cream selection, too.
Pie Wood Fired Pizza: Delicious pizza and a patio with a gorgeous view of the lake. Try the Muskoka Pie if you like a slightly sweet + spicy combo.
SHOP
Health Hut: We are open daily 11-5, and two of our favourites from the city will be joining us for weekend pop-ups:
Province of Canada will be setting up on our deck July 30th +31st, and Tuck Bedding will be here August 6th + 7th.
Frankie's Surf Club: Pop in for cozy tie-dyed crewnecks, bathers and a juice or kombucha from Greenhouse Juice.
L'eau: Located on the docks at Duke's Boats, they have everything from summer basics to resort wear.
Augustina: Toronto’s Augustina has a second home in Port Sandfield. They’ve brought their beautiful curation of apparel and accessories north and are just a few doors down from Frankie’s.
Poppy's Collection: Cute clothes for babies, toddlers, kids, and their parents! Kathryn has curated a beautiful collection, and is conveniently located in the heart of Port Carling.
MOVE
Huckleberry Rock: A hike with a view. We suggest visiting at sunset if you can. :)
The Boathouse Yoga Co: Yoga is taught to music in a picturesque old boathouse, looking out onto the lake (+ lily pads!). Owner Jenn has quite the following, so book your spot in advance.
Studio3: Spin, HIIT, yoga - dockside or in studio. Chelsey will keep you motivated with a great playlist and tons of energy.
TO-GO
Milford Bay Trout Dip: You could pick this up at a handful of speciality stores in the city. OR you could go straight to the source. Tangy, salty, smokey, yum.
Webers: An institution. Stop for a burger on your way home. Always a line. Always hits the spot. Tastes like summer.
